Our 15th Lego project - 10229 Winter Village Cottage

  • Model: 10229 Winter Village Cottage
  • 1490 Pieces
  • Released in 2012
  • Retail price: $99.99 USD

  • Here it is! Just in time for Christmas! Wow.. the last time we wrote a post on our Lego projects was in July 2012! It really has been a long time aye? We hope to catch up on our Lego building in 2013!

The 10229 Winter Village Cottage is the fourth installment of the Winter Village series, after the 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop, 10216 Winter Village Bakery and 10222 Winter Village Post Office. At 1490 pieces, the Winter Village Cottage is by the far the largest set in the series, and the most intricate set in our opinion.

As with the other Lego seasonal series, this set comes with plenty of minifigs. 8 minifigs to be exact - according to internet sources, they are mum, dad, grandma, grandpa, 3 children and snowplough driver. The set comes with a cottage (double storey, equipped with a kitchen, fire place which lights up and a bedroom with toys!), a storage shed, an igloo and a snowplough. So without further ado.. let our pictures do the talking! Next up: adding this set to form our complete Lego Winter Village Town MOC 2012!

Little Yellow Brick's Owners Are Off To Tie the Knot!

Hi everyone! Sorry we have not been blogging as regularly. We have been busy preparing for our wedding this weekend! We have bought a few new Lego sets but have not had the time to blog about them - nor have we opened them up!!
Here's our MOC of the Lego Wedding Table Decoration Set! We added an arch and light posts behind the wedding couple. Sadly, we probably will not be using this set on our wedding day as it does not fit the rest of our venue decoration.

Here's a sneak peek of one of our pre-wedding photos, credit to Marvin Lowe Photography.
We bought the red bricks from bricklink and built two hearts!

Ok, gotta run, we promise to be back soon after we tie the knot! Can't wait to open our Town Hall set!!

Little Yellow Brick's Medieval Kingdom MOC - Two and Counting

After all the fuss about repurchasing the 10193 Medieval Market Village and collecting a bunch of Lego Kingdom Series sets, including the 7946 King's Castle,we have decided to create our own MOC series! Presenting - drumrolls please - Little Yellow Brick's Medieval Kingdom MOC!

    Open format!

    Closed format!

For detailed write-ups of the individual sets, please see our posts on the 10193 Medieval Market Village and 7946 King's Castle. For this series, we have two formats: the open MMV and border pass; and the closed MMV and castle! As usual, please click on the extended post to find out more!

Little Yellow Brick Pick #9 - 7189 Mill Village Raid

Take a look at our latest Lego set!

    7189 Mill Village Raid
    2 beautiful structures!

    Plenty of farm animals!

    6 Minifigs!

10193 Medieval Market Village. 10223 Kingdoms Joust. 7946 King's Castle. 7188 King's Carriage Ambush. Let us welcome the latest set of our Lego medieval kingdom series - 7189 Mill Village Raid!

This set comes with a windmill and a stable, but that was not why we bought this set. Given our previous sets' significant numerical advantage towards the Lion faction, we decided to get this set to reduce the imbalance. The 7189 Mill Village Raid comes with three Dragon soldiers, three villagers, and plenty of farm animals - two goats, two chickens, one horse and one pig. We are excited about combining this set into our medieval kingdom, and we hope you will be as well. As usual, stay tuned! :)

    Our 13th Lego project - 7946 King's Castle

    • Model: 7946 King's Castle
    • 933 Pieces
    • Released in 2010
    • Retail price: $99.99 USD

    7946 King's Castle
    Border Pass Form!

    Castle form!

We bought the 7946 King's Castle as an addition to our growing medieval collection; today, we are proud owners of 10193 Medieval Market Village, 10223 Kingdoms Joust and 7188 King's Carriage Ambush. We intend to build up a medieval kingdom using these sets - we encourage all readers to watch this space!

The 7946's King Castle can be played either as a castle or a border pass; regardless of form, the objective is the same: the Lion troops, led by the King, aim to keep out the Dragon army, led by the Knight. The set comes with 5 Lion and 3 Dragon minifigs, together with a warhorse and a rat.
The set can be played in either form, although for standalone purposes the castle form would make for a better display. Together with other sets, it would probably be more fun to have the 7946 King's Castle as a border pass.
As usual, we have a more complete write-up in the extended post. Stay tuned for our future posts about building up our medieval kingdom collection!
